Care that makes you smile.
Welcome to Pig & Penguin Wellness! Here are answers to some commonly asked questions about our services:
What is Direct Primary Care?
Direct Primary Care is a healthcare model that focuses on personalized, direct access to medical services. It allows patients to receive high-quality care without the constraints of insurance, giving you more flexibility and transparency in your healthcare journey.
How does Direct Primary Care give patients more flexibility and transparency?
With Direct Primary Care, patients benefit from transparent pricing and a simplified care process. You can book appointments directly without needing referrals or approval from insurance companies. This means you have more control over your healthcare decisions and costs.
Why is Direct Primary Care preferable to dealing with insurance companies?
Insurance can often involve confusing policies, unexpected fees, and long waiting times for approvals. Direct Primary Care eliminates these hurdles, providing a stress-free experience where the focus is solely on your health and wellbeing.
What medical care do you offer?
Our clinic specializes in adult primary care and obesity medicine. We do not have separate subscriptions for primary care and obesity medicine by design. One of our top priorities is transparency and simplicity in pricing. You are guaranteed to pay one monthly fee and receive the full scope of Dr. Ludwig’s skill and expertise with no extra charges. Furthermore, there is extensive overlap between obesity medicine and all parts of primary care. A person receiving appropriate obesity medicine care will be receiving comprehensive primary care by definition. It doesn’t make sense to try to separate these things.
For those seeking weight loss, we provide tailored medical support including lifestyle coaching, prescription medications, referrals for bariatric surgery, management of related conditions, and metabolic assessments to help you achieve your health goals.
Do you accept insurance or Medicare?
No, we do not accept insurance or Medicare for any of our services. Pig & Penguin Wellness follows the Direct Primary Care model, which means we operate independently of insurance to provide more personalized, transparent care. Insurance can still be utilized outside of our practice for imaging, labs, medications, and hospitalizations. We recommend that patients carry insurance to provide coverage for catastrophic events and other unexpected health needs.
How does payment work?
We operate on a direct-pay basis through our electronic health record or through our online portal. Pricing is straightforward, and there are no hidden fees. For primary care and obesity medicine, we operate on a monthly subscription fee. Massage therapy is billed on a per-visit basis. Our rates our listed in the section below.
